Latest special exhibition opens at Leeds City Museum

23 Jul 2012

Following work on a run of highly successful special exhibitions at Leeds City Museum and a competitive creative tender process, Threefold were delighted to collaborate on ‘Treasured! Smuggled? Stolen? Saved?’. This special exhibition is a response to ‘Precious Cargo’, a project led by young people, inspired by Yorkshire’s world collections and part of ‘Stories of the World’, a project at the heart of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad.

Threefold worked in close partnership with the museum curators and a team of young people to help to bring their vision to life by creating the striking airport-themed branding, marketing and exhibition graphics.

The special exhibition is a fascinating insight into a selection of unusual objects that have made their way around the world to Yorkshire and have never been on public show before. The exhibition explores the strange and often exciting journeys that objects undergo before ending up in museum collections.

The key aims of the project are to bring young people into the museum, to inspire visitors to discover the stories and histories behind the unusual objects and to decide whether they were smuggled, stolen or saved.
